Hello everyone and welcome to the Path of
Positivity Challenge Blog! It is the first Monday of the month and time
for our new challenge to begin.
We have just entered the fifth month into our year long
study of colour. Every challenge we
have in 2018 will be dedicated to the theme of colour. Each month we
will focus on a particular individual colour grouping (blue, red,
yellow, etc.) or on a specific colour collection (pastels, metallics,
etc.). Since colour is so important to our everyday lives, we thought
this would be an interesting Path to explore.
In January, I presented a brief essay on how we are affected by colour,
its impact on us, the symbolism of it, and the psychological effect it
has on our everyday lives. If you are new to this series and would like
to review this essay, or you would simply just like to refresh yourself
on its details, you can find it by clicking
HERE and scrolling down to the Title, "
Theme Ideas for 2018".
Right now, it is time to get on with the details of our newest challenge. This time around, for
Challenge #59, the
optional theme* is that you get to
Choose Your Favourite Colour(s) to work with! Here is what you need to know...
The Basics
While you can find out
ALL the information you need to know in order to participate in the challenge by checking out the '
Challenge Details' tab at the top of the page (or by clicking
HERE), here is a refresher of the basics.
- ALL entries must be positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some nature.
- *Each month there will also be an OPTIONAL theme to follow. Participants must follow the optional theme in order to win the prize for Most Inspirational. If you choose to follow the theme, please follow the instructions below to ensure that you are considered for this prize.
- ALL entries that abide by the general rules of the challenge, will be eligible to receive the Random Prize.
- For both prizes, you can make any sort of project you'd like (i.e.,
scrapbooking page, card, tag, mixed media, digital, etc.). In fact, you
don't have to create a project at all. You may just have something to
say that is motivational or encouraging in some way, or a written
passage that expounds on the nature of the theme. Project, written
passage or both! It is completely up to you.
Now that the basics are out of the way, how about we get on with the
details for Challenge #59.
Challenge #59
Optional Theme:
CHOOSE YOUR FAVOURITE COLOUR(S)
So far in our exploration of colour this year we've spent some time
working with shades of blue, red and yellow. We've also explored the
colour grouping of pastels. Later in the year we'll continue our journey
by delving into oranges, greens, purples, along with the colour
categories of neutrals and metallics. However, for this challenge, we're
leaving it all up to you.
What is
YOUR favourite colour or are there a combination of colours that
you really like? If you're anything like me, choosing your favourites
might just be harder than you think! Depending on the day or even my
mood, my favourite colours might change. One day I'm passionate about
red and the next day I might be jonesing for purple. Talk to me later in
the same week and I might just be seeking out shades of blue. When it
comes to combinations of colours, I have the same problem. I love the
stark contrast of black and white with some red thrown in. However, I
also love deep shades of pinks and yellows together and there are so
many more! Are you like me, changing your favourite depending on your mood or do you have a consistent favourite colour or combo?
Perhaps, you are passionate about a particular palette!
This challenge, you get to
Choose Your Favourite Colour(s) to work with! Whether you choose to work with a single colour, a duo or maybe even a particular palette, it is up to you. You can also use some different colours if you'd like but please be sure that if you
would like a chance to win the prize for the
Most Inspirational Creation, over half of the colours in your project must be based on your Favourite Colour(s)! You
can choose to fill in your image(s) with your favourite colour(s),
and/or they can be in your choices of papers and embellishments. Just
make sure that the majority of your project focuses on the colour(s)
that you love the most. We can't wait to see how you explore the theme
in your designs!
If you do follow the optional theme, be sure to add FT after your
name so that we include you in the draw for the prize for Most
Inspirational. Please note that you will also need to let us know
somewhere in your post (written in a sentence right next to the link up
for our challenge is fine) exactly what your Favourite Colour(s) happen to be.
Without this information, you won't be eligible to qualify for the MI
prize. Additionally, though completely optional, we'd also love to find
out how your
Favourite Colour(s) make you feel, if you'd like to share that with us.
What
kinds of feelings do these colours evoke in you? You can write a
sentence or two in the body of your post, write a sentence at the bottom
of your post
next to the link up for this challenge, or simply leave a comment on
this post if you'd like.
Remember, in order to be considered eligible for this month's prizes, ALL creations must be
positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some nature.
You don't need to follow the optional theme if you simply want to have a
chance at the Random Draw prize of three images from
SheepSki
Designs, one of our guest sponsors this month. You only need to follow
the theme
if you want a chance to win an additional sponsored prize of a $15 gift
certificate from
Lunagirl, the second of our guest sponsors this
month, for the project chosen as Most Inspiring.
Talking of our guest sponsors...
This month we have one returning sponsor and one brand new one! It is
time to refresh ourselves with the details of the second, but first, let's get to know the newest one, shall we?!
Hi I'm Andrea Norris, creator and owner of SheepSki Designs - living in Leeds, Yorkshire in the UK, working
full time as a Management Accountant, currently working on 4 design
teams and an obsessive crafter and creator of cards. I love anything
arty. I've always drawn stuff, for as long as I can remember. In my
younger days I sold a few watercolour paintings. I love creating
canvases mixed media canvasses with flowers.
I finally found software I could gel with in December 2015. January 2016
a challenge team I worked on was short of a designer's images to create
with so I drew some. I opened my shop a month later so I could
sponsor challenges and give something back to the crafting world, to the
lovely ladies who have supported me on my journey.
I've a Facebook group and blog where I hold challenges and I'm now starting to look at inviting guest designers.
Welcome to my world!
Andrea xx

Next, that brings us to

My name is Karen, owner of Lunagirl Images. In 2004, after collecting
vintage ephemera for most of my life, I started digitizing and restoring
images and designing digital supplies for artists and crafters (my
husband collected antique books and prints, so we had quite a house
full!) We are proud to have been the first company to offer digital
vintage image collections of this size and quality at prices affordable
to the home crafter.
At
Lunagirl.com (and in my etsy shop) I currently offer you several hundred
unique digital collage sheets and dozens of themed craft CDs -- over
30,000 images so far! They are a great resource for card making,
scrapbooking, jewelry making, and much more, easy to use, carefully
researched and curated, all thoughtfully organized and lovingly cleaned
up, ready to you to use in your projects. I love altering and
embellishing these beautiful and fascinating images and seeing what my
customers create with them.
In
addition to digital art and design, I enjoy painting on wood, creating
assemblage icons and shrines, reading history books, bellydancing,
cooking, and sewing with my vintage Singer. I'm also blessed to be the
mom of two teenaged boys.
If you're looking for something in particular in vintage style, feel free to email me at info@Lunagirl.com!
