Challenge #23 Top Picks: Voting Open March 9th to March 16th, 2015

Welcome to the Challenge #23 PoP ToP!

It is time to get on with showcasing the top picks for Challenge #23.  As we only had nine participants enter Challenge #23, we will be opening things up so that all the entrants have the opportunity to be chosen as the Voter's Choice.  We do this any time we have less than 14 participants.  And while we may not have enough participants to have our usual top seven, we certainly have enough to have a top three.  Therefore, it is time to get on with showcasing the three projects that the team feels were the best of the bunch.

So, without further ado, please let me introduce you to the Top Picks for Challenge #23 (in no particular order)...

Congrats Ladies...

As a participant who has been chosen as a Top Pick, each of you is entitled to a special Top Pick badge. Please send an email to popwinners {at} gmail {dot} com, or by clicking HERE to bring up the address in your email program, with the subject "Challenge #23 Top Pick" and I'll email your badge to you.  Please note that it may take me several days to get back to you, so I really appreciate your patience.
Now as I mentioned, each of the participant's who entered Challenge #23 is eligible to have their project and/or post voted on.  Here is a list of everyone who entered.  Each of the entrant's names is linked up to their blog post (order is reflective of how they entered the challenge and nothing else).

Have Your Say!

Now the really hard work starts.  It is time for you, our readers, to vote for your favourite entry.  Which participant most inspires you?  Remember, you are not necessarily voting on a creation that was made.  You might simply find what the person had to say in their post to be inspiring and optimistic and in line with the concept of laughter.  Therefore, please be sure to go and check out the entries first and not just make your choices off of the thumbnails.  Once you have checked all the entries out,  let us know who your favourite choice is by placing your vote below using the Inlinkz feature.

Voting open for 7 days:
 March 9th to March 16th

Come have your say in determining the Voter's Choice for Challenge #23!  Don't forget to leave a comment after you have voted.  There will be a prize for one lucky voter who leaves a comment (chosen randomly).  If you haven't had the opportunity to visit each of the entries already, please go and check them out a little more closely before placing your vote.  Once you have made your decision, why not go back and let them know how they inspired you.

Good luck everyone!

Important Note:

Please note that in order for this to work, I must add all the entries but I can only do this AFTER I have published this post.  So there will be some overlap time between when this post is published and when you will be able to vote.  Once I have uploaded the entries there will be a total of nine images below on which to vote.  As soon as all nine are uploaded, I'll enable voting to begin. If there are less than nine, it means that I am still in the process of adding the images and you should come back in a little while to make your vote.  Thank you for your patience!

Ponderings Along the Pathway...SERENDIPITY

Welcome to this month's edition of Ponderings Along the Pathway, an exclusive feature over here on the Path of Positivity.  The purpose of this column is to continue with the goal of this blog which is to create a space "designed to inspire, nurture and provide support for the soul by creating a positive path to follow, one project or post at a time".  Providing some motivational introspection on the themes we cover each challenge period, is one way of achieving this goal.

This month it is all about SERENDIPITY and PAT is here to share her thoughts on the subject...
ser·en·dip·i·ty, ˌserənˈdipədē/, noun

Chances are, when you hear someone ask, “What are the chances that…?” you’re looking serendipity straight in the eye. Serendipity is defined as the “unsought, unintended and/or unexpected discovery, learning experience or good fortune.”

Life is full of serendipity, which I truly believe is destiny’s way of saying “Okay, your life is all planned out, except…” Or maybe it’s destiny giving you that ultimate ah-ha moment.

Whatever it is, I bless the times, small and large, in my life where serendipity had a hand…

…like when I was stationed at Fort Ord in the motor pool and my co-worker’s best friend just happened to be single and just happened to end up married to me for the past 38 years (large)…

…or when I passed up a primo parking spot at a busy WalMart to give it to an elderly couple, and when I found a spot, the car parked in front of me backed up and drove off, and I pulled up for a nice clean “getaway” after my shopping was finished (small).

Four-leaf clovers, rainbows, shootings stars--when you find them, check over your shoulder and you’ll see serendipity winking at you. When life hands you lemons, who do you think is there beside you with a pitcher and a lot of sugar (and a twinkle in her eye)? She knows better than you what you really need.

Serendipity is all about fortune, luck, providence, happy chance. So, the next time you miss that appointment, get stuck at a long light, trip over someone’s bag…be open to whatever comes your way. It may change your whole life, for the better!

That's all for now. You never know when our paths will cross, all because of a little serendipity!

P.S. Great movies that feature serendipity in action:
  • Serendipity starring John Cusack
  • Mr. Destiny starring Jim Belushi and Michael Caine
  • Sleepless in Seattle starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks
  • Big Business starring Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin
  • What’s Up, Doc? With Barbara Streisand and Ryan O’Neal
  • (Even the classic Little Women has its serendipitous moments)

Please be sure to pop over to Pat's personal blog, Patacake Pages, for more inspiration.  That is it for today but please be sure to stop by on Monday when we post the top picks for Challenge #23.

May the fates of fortune always be in your favour!

Enjoy your week ahead everyone!

Challenge #24--SERENDIPITY: March 2nd - April 5th, 2015

It is the first Monday in March and that means it is time for the next challenge to start (it is also my momma's birthday and my surrogate niece JoJo's as well--happy birthday gals).  This time around, for Challenge #24 the theme is "SERENDIPITY".  Show us your interpretation of what serendipity means to you.  You can make any sort of project and/or post as long as it is positive in nature and relates to the theme.

Now I'll be interested to see what kind of response we get for this challenge.  If we get less than 10 people playing along when the theme is laughter (any kind of humourous project would have fit perfectly), I can only imagine what the response will be with the theme of serendipity.  However, it is a challenge after all, and challenging you, we most definitely are this month.

Given that one needs to think a bit differently about the theme for this challenge, I thought I'd provide you with a definition and some examples:
  • luck that takes the form of finding valuable or pleasant things that are not looked for. (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/serendipity)
  • Serendipity means a "fortunate happenstance" or "pleasant surprise". It was coined by Horace Walpole in 1754. In a letter he wrote to a friend Walpole explained an unexpected discovery he had made by reference to a Persian fairy tale, The Three Princes of Serendip. The princes, he told his correspondent, were “always making discoveries, by accidents and sagacity, of things which they were not in quest of”. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serendipity)
Examples of SERENDIPITY (1-3--http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/serendipity)
  1. They found each other by pure serendipity.
I hope that helps you out a bit.  My team certainly did a lovely job with their creations.  If the connection to the theme is unclear, remember that you can always check out their blogs to find out how their project ties into the theme.  I know that once you work it out for yourself a bit, that you'll come up with something great as well.  Serendipity is all around us.  Maybe there is someone special in your life that you'd like to tell, how lucky you are that you found them, or maybe you have a wedding coming up.  This month's theme is perfect for wedding cards.  Whichever route of serendipity you go down, why not design a creation and not only share it with the recipient, but us as well?!

Don't forget when you link up your project and/or post, to please leave a comment letting us know how your creation relates to the concept of serendipity if it isn't readily clear within the design itself or clearly written somewhere else in your post.  Remember, the creation must be positive/inspirational/motivational AND adhere to the theme of serendipity in order to be considered eligible for this month's prizes.  While you may easily see how serendipity relates to your creation, it may not be as apparent to me or the DT members.  That is why we ask that you clarify it somewhere, whether here or in your blogpost.  You can simply write a sentence at the bottom of your post next to the link up for this challenge, if it would be easier.  We just need to know how your project ties into the theme.  Letting us know, clears up any ambiguity that may exist.

Next, that brings us to Lunagirl.  Let's now learn a little about Karen's company and what she has to offer...

http://www.lunagirl.com/
My name is Karen, owner of Lunagirl Images. In 2004, after collecting vintage ephemera for most of my life, I started digitizing and restoring images and designing digital supplies for artists and crafters (my husband collected antique books and prints, so we had quite a house full!) We are proud to have been the first company to offer digital vintage image collections of this size and quality at prices affordable to the home crafter.

At Lunagirl.com (and in my etsy shop) I currently offer you several hundred unique digital collage sheets and dozens of themed craft CDs -- over 30,000 images so far! They are a great resource for card making, scrapbooking, jewelry making, and much more, easy to use, carefully researched and curated, all thoughtfully organized and lovingly cleaned up, ready to you to use in your projects. I love altering and embellishing these beautiful and fascinating images and seeing what my customers create with them.

In addition to digital art and design, I enjoy painting on wood, creating assemblage icons and shrines, reading history books, bellydancing, cooking, and sewing with my vintage Singer. I'm also blessed to be the mom of two teenaged boys.

If you're looking for something in particular in vintage style, feel free to email me at info@Lunagirl.com!

We are very pleased to have Stephanie, from Steph's Scrap Happenings, as our guest designer for this challenge...
I’m a Florida native currently living in Kentucky.  I have been married to my wonderful husband for 30 years and we have been blessed with a son and a daughter. Both of them are married and our son and his wife are the parents of our precious grandson.  While I have been doing crafts of all kinds most of my life, my love of paper-crafting started in 2004 when I wanted to make a scrapbook for our son’s high school graduation party.  From my scrapbooking roots, I gradually transitioned into making cards and altered items.  Due to design team commitments, I work a lot with digi stamps but enjoy getting inky with “traditional” stamps as well.  Many of my cards feature Scripture verses.  I view card-making as not only a wonderful hobby but also as a ministry tool to use to encourage others.  I was very happy to find the Path of Positivity Challenge a couple of months ago.  I really like the purpose of the challenge and am very excited to be a Guest Designer this month.
Here is the beautiful creation she came up with for the start of the challenge...

Once again I am blown away by the quality of projects from my amazing design team and wonderful guest!  Each of these projects has showcased serendipity in various forms and manners and I hope we have inspired you.

So what are you waiting for?  Create a project and/or post that is positive AND relates to serendipity, provide an explanation of how your project and/or post relates to the theme somewhere in your post or come over and leave a comment with the explanation.  Easy, peasy!

If you have some time, please visit other people participating throughout the month.  I've included the summary of the challenge details below.  If you are new to this unique challenge, you can find out the impetus behind why I started it under the 'Introductions' tab and all the details you need to know in order to participate, in the 'Challenge Details' tab (both tabs located at the top of the blog).

I hope to see you back on Monday, March 9th when voting will start on the Top Picks for Challenge #23.

Please be sure to click on it to bring it up into the lightbox in its proper size before saving it.
