Ch. #109--Anything Goes POSITIVE with the Opt. Twist of: Design a Creation Inspired By FASHION

Hello everyone and welcome to the Path of Positivity Challenge Blog! It is the first Monday of the month and it is time for our latest challenge to begin! We hope that you and your families continue to stay healthy and safe out there.

Since we are not your typical challenge blog, it is important for you to understand how things work in order to be sure you are eligible to win any of the prizes offered. If you are new to this unique challenge, you can find out the impetus behind why I started it under the 'Introductions' tab and you can find out all the details you need to know in order to participate, in the 'Challenge Details' tab (both tabs located at the top of the blog). For your convenience, a summary of the most important rules can also be found in the right sidebar under the heading 'General Rules'.

Right now, it is time to get down to the business of our latest challenge. Here is what you need to know...

Challenge #109

Anything Goes POSITIVE with the Opt. Twist of

Design a Creation Inspired By FASHION

This year's goal is to take a look at the things around us that can inspire us in our creative journeys. As such, if you would like to participate in the optional twist this month, we want you to Design a Creation Inspired By FASHION.

Clothing is an integral part of a person’s life. The world of fashion is always evolving as one can see when they reflect back through the previous decades and centuries. Each piece of clothing has a purpose and what we select to wear reveals the story of who we are or who we want to be; how we see the world and how we want the world to see us. It helps us to showcase who we are as a person by communicating facts about our personality, our background, our culture and our unique sense of style. Through clothing, there is no end to how one can express oneself.

With new fabrics and applications being developed constantly, the progression of the fashion industry is endless. With so many colours, patterns and textures surrounding us, fashion can inspire creativity in so many ways. In fact, two very unique and creative dresses are making their way through the news, both having recently premiered at the 71st Miss Universe Pageant. Whether one enjoys or dislikes these types of pageants, one can't deny the ingenuity behind two of the outfits. A dress made out of soda tabs was worn by Miss Thailand, and a cape made from recycled water bottles was worn by Miss USA (click HERE if you want to see a picture of the 1st, and HERE for the 2nd). And, have you seen the countless dresses made from toilet paper (a quick search on google will showcase many options or you can click HERE to check out a few of them)?! The imagination of fashion designers really has no bounds!

During the month of February, Fashion Week will be celebrated in New York, Madrid, London, Milan and Paris. While people across the world celebrate fashion and what it means to them, it is a great time to show your own readers how FASHION has inspired YOU in your own creative journey.

In order to be considered eligible for this month's honours and prize, remember that general types of projects/posts will not qualify for the prizes UNLESS they are also positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some nature. Additionally, even if a project may qualify as positive, if your post promotes negativity, hatred or anything of an abhorrent nature, your project will be disqualified. Honours and Prizes include:
  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top Pick, Voter's Choice, Most Inspirational, Random Winner, DT Delight.

My wonderful design team continues to outdo themselves time and time again! They each have their own style and clever interpretation of the twist. Even after all this time, I continue to be awed by the scope of excellence in their work! Each of these artful conceptions has showcased the notion of being Inspired By FASHION wonderfully and I hope we have motivated you to embark on your own journey of creativity. Be sure to go and visit each team member so you can see how her project further connects to the twist.

So what are you waiting for? Create a project and/or post that is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some nature and join our link up. How about stretching yourself by also opting to follow the twist?! While it isn't mandatory, we'd also love to find out how this month's twist affects your own life. We are all influenced by fashion in one way or another, whether we dress up to the nines or live in sweats. What influences your own particular style when it comes to fashion? You can write a sentence or two in the body of your post, write a sentence at the bottom of your post next to the link up for this challenge, or simply leave a comment on this post if you'd like. Finally, remember that we're trying to create a Path of Positivity so if you have some time, please visit other people participating throughout the month.

I hope to see you back next week when voting will [hopefully] begin on the Top Picks for Challenge #108. There will be a separate post detailing those picks where you will have the opportunity to vote on the creation or post that you have found to be the most positive, inspirational or encouraging of the chosen picks.

Then, be sure to join us again on February 20th when we'll be back with our midway featuring more great projects.

Right now, it is time to continue with our midway. Here is a refresher of the details for our current twist:

Challenge #108

Anything Goes POSITIVE with the Opt. Twist of

Design a Creation Inspired By

A WORD COLLAGE

In 2022, our goal each month was to celebrate the positivity around us. For 2023, it will be a year of Inspiration. This year, in each challenge we are going to take a look at the things around us that can inspire us in our creative journeys. As such, if you would like to participate in the optional twist this month, we want you to Design a Creation Inspired By A WORD COLLAGE.

Words can be a great prompt to get us thinking creatively. If you are unfamiliar with the concept, a word collage typically contains a list of words all related to a specific topic. A word collage is a great visual representation that can help readers better understand a concept or see a subject from a different perspective. Creatively, a word collage can help give you ideas for where to take your project. Here is an example of a word collage that I used on a card back in 2014.

Word collage credits: Wintertime Subway Art.

If you want to follow the optional twist this month, you can choose your own word collage to be inspired by or you can take inspiration from the word collage used in this card (you can right click on it to bring it up in the the lightbox to see it in a larger size). You can use an actual word collage in your project or you could simply be inspired by one or more words in a collage itself and create something new and unique. It is time to show your readers how A WORD COLLAGE has the ability to inspire you in your creative journey.

Remember, the twist is completely optional and you don't need to follow it in order to win. However, in order to be considered eligible for this month's goodies, remember that general types of projects/posts will not qualify for the honours and prize UNLESS they are also positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some nature. Additionally, even if a project may qualify as positive, if your post promotes negativity, hatred or anything of an abhorrent nature, your project will be disqualified. Honours and Prize include:

  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top Pick, Voter's Choice, Most Inspirational, Random Winner, DT Delight.
To help inspire you further down the path of Creating Something Inspired By A WORD COLLAGE, check out the wonderful projects my Design Team had the opportunity to create. Clicking on each team member's name will take you to their blog where you can check out the details for their inspirational creations.

Also, I know that the participants would love for you to go and pay them a visit.
